Salmon With Lavender and Basil

Lavender and Basil Salmon

Pelindaba Salt and Pepper
I’ve been experimenting with lavender all summer in lemonade, cocktails, cookies, and household cleaning (DON’T FORGET TO ENTER MY LAVENDER GIVEAWAY!). Now, it’s time to bring the “Summer of Lavender” to the dinner table with the help of Pelindaba’s Lavender Gourmet Salt and Pepper! It just so happens, Pelindaba has a wonderful salmon recipe that incorporates lavender, basil and soy sauce. Salmon is my absolute favorite fish, so I have been anxious to get this concoction on my plate! (RECIPE BELOW)

Pelindaba Salt and PepperMy salmon came out beautifully with TONS of flavor and a delicate hint of lavender. If you’re not a fish or salmon lover, there are plenty of other uses for the Lavender Gourmet Salt and Pepper. Pelindaba recommends using it in soups, salads, on grilled meats and chicken, and in any recipe where an exotic salt would enhance the flavor.
Salmon with Lavender and Basil

Salmon With Lavender and Basil
Serves 4
(Recipe by Pelindaba)
4 fresh salmon steaks or fillets
5 large basil leaves, chopped
2 tablespoons tamari soy sauce
2 tablespoons fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/3 cup olive oil
Pelindaba Lavender Salt and Pepper to taste

1. Combine all marinade ingredients to use as a baste for grilling. Place salmon in a shallow dish or plastic bag cover with marinade, and let rest in the refrigerator for an hour.
2. Place salmon on a hot, lightly oiled grill or barbeque, skin side down. Baste frequently with the marinade while cooking.
3. Cook 10 to 15 minutes for most 1-inch-thick fillets. When salmon flesh begins to flakes easily, remove from grill, baste once more with the marinade and serve.

(Note: instead of grilling my salmon, I placed it in glass baking dish and baked it for 20-25 minutes at 425)
