Chandlers Crabhouse

A big question around Seattle is: Where is your favorite waterfront restaurant?

There are many to choose from. Dozens and Dozens. Admittedly, I haven’t been to them all, but I think I can honestly say that I have found my own zen waterfront paradise at Chandlers Crabhouse.

I’ll give you three reasons: Seaplanes, Ceviche, and Happy Hour Sparkling Wine!

If you haven’t watched the video above… do it. Like, right now! C’mon, it’s only 7 seconds and it’s the undisputed highlight of every visit I’ve ever made to Chandlers.

You’re guaranteed to get a buzz here, and it has nothing to do with the cocktails!

Chandlers sits in a prime spot for viewing the Kenmore Air seaplanes take off and land on Lake Union. If you take a seat on the patio, the planes literally fly right over your head as they come in for a landing! (A total Wayne’s World moment!) It is THE coolest thing! There is something so therapeutic about watching seaplanes on a sunny afternoon with a glass of Chateau Ste. Michelle in hand.

Ok, we have a killer view. Now lets fill our table with some amazing food and drinks!

Chandlers, in my opinion, has THE best Happy Hour. 7 days a week, 3pm – close. Right now, they’re celebrating their 25th anniversary and on Wednesday they had 4 appetizers on special for 25 cents each. I couldn’t have planned it better! It was the perfect way to try out a few of the dishes I had been drooling over in my previous visits.

The Tuna Tartare was my favorite. I’m totally getting the full-size version next time!

No complaints about the Salmon Sushi or the Smoked Salmon dip either.

I tried the Ceviche during a previous visit and my taste buds were very happy.

Chandlers is known for its Crab Cakes. I’m ashamed to say I haven’t ordered one yet, but my friends have raved about them. It’s my mission to get one next time!

If you have the afternoon free and you want to get even closer to the water, I suggest taking a kayak or paddleboard trip around Lake Union before settling in for Happy Hour. Moss Bay has great prices and it’s in walking distance of Chandlers.

Here’s a few pictures of my trip around the lake.
Hope to see you at Happy Hour!

  1. Went to Chandler’s for “appy” hour today! Dove into their crab and artichoke dip – divine beyond description … a must if you haven’t tried it!
