Book Club Cuisine: Marcelo In the Real World

Food, drinks, good conversation and girl time. A book club brings all those elements together and I so treasure the evenings I get to spend with the ladies in my club once a month. Plus, It’s a great excuse to have a mid-week glass of wine/alcoholic beverage (or three!) without feeling guilty. We’ve also had some pretty outstanding dinners. My friend Erin Johnson really turned it out tonight. I mean, spicy Mac & Cheese, Pear and Walnut Salad, Holiday Shortbread Bars with homemade cream cheese frosting (that she only makes once a year, i might add!) and a delicious vodka drink with blood orange liqueur! Can you say comfort food at it’s finest! It really hit the spot on a bitter January day. I wanted to share it with you and give Erin her due praise.

For any readers out there, this was our January book. It deals with right and wrong as seen through the eyes of a young man diagnosed with an autistic-like disorder. If you’re wondering, we gave it 3 and a 1/2 stars. It was well done and a fast read!
